Hi! My name is Jessica West, and I am the owner of JaCo Performing Arts Center. I am so excited to be living out my dream!
I began my dance career at the age of 3 right here in Marianna. I continued dancing in Tallahassee and began teaching and choreographing at 16 at workshops throughout the South. I danced competitively from age 6 through 22. I danced for the Nyxettes in New Orleans for 4 years performing all over the city and many parades. I have choreographed national award winning dances and love spending my time in the studio!
I am married to my wonderful husband, David. My son Judd (10), stepson Gage (9), daughter Jennings (8) and youngest son JayHart (2) are my greatest gifts and we are so excited for this new journey!
A little dance background about the owner of JaCo Performing Arts Center….
I began my dance life at 3 years old at The Dance Factory in Marianna with then owner, Stacy Larkin, who shared her passion for dance and instilled that passion within me. As a little girl, I loved the ability to listen to music and move to the beat. I started competing in dance at age 6 and absolutely fell in love with it! I began dancing and competing at Tallahassee Dance Academy at age 12. While dancing at TDA, I gained a wealth of dance knowledge from the instructors there and attended classes at FSU School of Dance.
At 16, I began dancing with a competitive clogging team out of Jacksonville (Electric Rhythm Cloggers) and then a competitive team out of Trussville, AL (Dynamic Edition). I also began teaching workshops throughout FL and continued into my twenties.
When I moved to Louisiana in 2015, I began dancing with the largest all female krewe in New Orleans, the Nyxettes. Performing at professional basketball games, many Mardi Gras parades and the infamous Nyx Ball. I was the head coach for the largest Christian school on the north shore’s dance team.
In 2020 my family came back “home” to Jackson County. My daughter, Jennings, began dancing at the same place my dance career began- The Dance Factory. I began teaching there at the same time and have continued to until recently.
The last 5 years have been a fun ride with multiple national championship wins, multiple battle competitors, multiple first place overall awards, multiple judges awards, and multiple choreographer awards at multiple competitions for my work there.
The time was finally right for me to step out onto my own, and I am so very excited to bring this new and enhanced dance studio experience to my home town. With new and fun events happening throughout the year, there is something for everyone!
My love and passion for dance and performance runs deep and sharing that passion is my favorite thing to do!
Come by and check out the studio, take some of the summer classes/camps and see if JPAC is the right fit for you and your dancer!
